Pick the latest Lansing State Journal high school athlete of the week.

The fall high school sports season is heating up with conference tournaments and postseason play getting started in several sports.

The following Lansing State Journal high school athlete of the week candidates were among the standout performers in mid-Michigan over the last week.

Voting to determine the latest athlete of the week is open until noon Wednesday. The winner will be featured in the print edition of the LSJ.

ANYA BRETT, EAST LANSING CROSS COUNTRY: The junior helped East Lansing win the Blue division title at the A2 Running Co. Coaching Legends Classic on Saturday. Brett was the top finisher for the Trojans, finishing fifth overall with a time of 19:53.92. Her showing helped East Lansing finish with a score of 62, which was seven points ahead of runner-up Hudsonville.

BRENDAN GARFIELD, GRAND LEDGE SOCCER: The senior helped the Comets clinch the outright CAAC Blue title for the first time in program history with a key goal last week. Garfield scored the go-ahead goal that vaulted Grand Ledge to a 3-2 win over Holt. That helped the Comets wrap up their CAAC Blue schedule with a 6-0-1 mark.

AUTUMN KISSMAN, MASON VOLLEYBALL: The senior helped Mason improve to 4-1 in the CAAC Red with a win over St. Johns on Wednesday and followed by helping the Bulldogs capture the title at the Mount Morris Volleyball tournament on Saturday. Kissman led Mason with seven aces and 14 kills in the win over St. Johns.

COLTON STIPCAK, FULTON FOOTBALL: He helped the Pirates end a two-game losing streak and remain in the hunt for an automatic spot in the state playoffs with a big performance Friday. Stipcak rushed for 306 yards and three touchdowns while helping Fulton to a 30-22 win over Saranac. He had the go-ahead touchdown in the final minute while helping the Pirates improve to 3-3 and match their win total from 2015.
