Central Michigan quarterback Cooper Rush was named the Mid-American Conference West Division co-offensive player of the week Monday.
Cooper Rush delivered another big performance for Central Michigan.
The fourth-year starter at quarterback for the Chippewas set a Kelly/Shorts Stadium record and reached a milestone in his latest outing while helping CMU improve to 3-0 with a victory over UNLV. And that has led to Rush repeating as the Mid-American Conference West Division offensive player of the week.
Rush, a Charlotte native and Lansing Catholic grad, completed 20 of 33 passes for 352 yards and threw a stadium-record six touchdown passes in the 44-21 win. He surpassed 10,000 career passing yards in the victory.
“With Cooper, I don’t really know where his ceiling is,” second-year CMU coach John Bonamego said. “He’s a guy that’s played a lot of football here. He is playing at a high level because he prepares at a high level.
“He’s a football guy. He’s a guy that can’t come in or get into the (football) building without watching film. He’s intelligent and he’s already graduated. He just has all of the intangible qualities that you look for in a player, especially at that position.”
